I am not certain, but I think the Allison Grand Sport has a similar pad.
At least I am hoping. From a description in a review on Wave to Wave it sounded like they do.

That looks a lot like a sidewinder pad, not much fun over 55 mph. I have seen them modified into a v-pad and perform better

Any thoughts on how it may handle? I am wondering if it will be more prone to chine walk.

Its definitely a Hydrostream Vector. I would say someone at some point had modified that boat cause I have never seen a vector, or any hydrostream with a pad like that. Buddy of mine had a 75 Vector back in the day and sold it and it was totally redone but the new owner by a shop local to me, put that had the flat (concave) pad and not a small v pad.

Hi, thanks for looking at it, I have been trying to figure out more about this boat as well. I am really hoping it will handle ok when finished. :) I have never had it on the water.
The transom is 2 in thick, 5 layers of ply plus had aluminum plates inside and out.
I will post some picks of the hull number and id tag.
When I picked this boat up about 25 years ago, I had taken by Baker Marine and talk to Ron and Jeff Baker. Ron said it definitely looked different and thought it looked as though it was done at the Factory. He also mentioned it looked like a different deck was on the hull. You can see an area where they meet it looks different.
Shortly after we bought the boat up my wife and I had a few kids, and the boat was put in a barn for many years. The kids are done with college now, so I decided to pull the old stream out of the barn and start trying to rebuild it. But would love to know the boat's history.

Thanks again Phil

That transom!?!?!? What in the world happened? Yikes! Where did the splashwell go?!?!? Also, that is not a stock pad on that. Something doesnt look right on that boat either. What are the first 3 letters of the HIN (Hull Identification Number).

Also, the rear of the wings dont flair out at all in the one picture and all Vectors do. Vkings dont but thats not a Vking just by looking at the inside. Here is my Vector and you can see what im talking about. Also, where the splashwell should be, it doesnt look like there has ever been one on yours. Look at the HIN and post it if you can.

1975 Vector rebuild

by PCS9136 » Nov 26, 2022 11:52 pm

Hello,
I am new to the site, and I am in the process of restoring a 1975 Vector. I have seen several interesting builds outlined on this forum and the information provided has been very helpful.
So, I wanted to start by saying thanks to all who post.
I have owned this Vector for over 20 years, and it needed a new core and transom when we got, so I have yet to have it on the water. After 20+ years I am now in the process of rebuilding it.
The pad on this boat is different than others I have seen, and I was wondering if anyone has seen a Vector with a pad like this, and may have some thoughts on how it would handle?
Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Phil
