You cant feel the core. Its covered with fiberglass so no way to tell if its bad or not without pulling up the floor then drilling a few small holes to see if the wood is wet under the fiberglass. Think of it as a sandwich. The hull is the bottom, then your core, then another layer of fiberglass, Then of course, your floor is on top of all of that.

And a bad core can be dangerous at any speed. It doesnt need to go fast to be dangerous.

Yeah I'm kinda scared to dig into mine just yet. While it seems solid I can't have another huge project There's an inspection hole cut out behind the back seat. It looks/feels solid and light but I don't trust it. Im glad with the way it's set up it wont go over 75.

Dont get me wrong, Its a pretty sweet looking boat, Its just all that extra metal there that scares the crap outta me. A solid boat would not need that junk no matter how big of a motor you put on it. Just saying...

Here are some pics of it...

He didnt mention anything to me other then he put a new floor in and everything else "looked" ok. Thats what they all say about these boats. If it hasnt been replaced, Its junk! Heck, Look at Sonics boat. That is a fine example of a pristine boat and he found a small soft spot in the floor and decided to dig further only to find a wet soggy core.

You are right boat was for sale about 1.5 years ago in Lino Lakes, MN. Current owner lives on Green Lake in Chisago City. Previous owner was an airplane sheet metal mechanic and last time it was posted for sale I remember the add stating there was Kevlar work done in the transom area? Does this make any sense? Anywho you are probably right and boat suffers from bad core. J

Seems like he's avoiding the core question. I know when I bought my Vegas last year I looked at a few boats and everyone was shy about answering the core question. Oh well goes with the territory of these boats.

I emailed him this:
I was wondering if you stall have the hydrostream for sale.

If so, I was wondering, I notice the ad says the floor was replaced
but I was wondering if the core or transom have ever been replaced.
And this is what I got back:
No cracks, replaced floor, everything else looked fine. Transom supported with metal and tie rods.
While it looks like a killer boat. I would be careful on this not knowing the shape of the core and that set up on the transom looks scary! Best band-aid fix I have ever seen.

I swear I have seen this for sale before. It states it has a new floor but by the looks of the metal all cobbled together on the back of the boat (Transom), Im willing the transom and the core are all original. I am going to shoot him an email and see. I will save the pictures and post em up here later.
