Hey! Sorry just saw this post now! And yes it would be nice to have you stop by and get a second opinion if possible. Please message me if you're still interested. And no I don't know that gentlemen, do you have any contact info about him?

I'll be on Jack Lake in July - maybe I'll stop by and check it out.

Do you know Dave Clulow in Apsley? He used to work at the Anchorage on Jack Lake and then at Tuckers on Hwy 28. He lives just south of Apsley on Hwy 28.

He's a great guy who used to race outboards - I believe in a class similar to the VooDoo. If you can find him, he would be a great resource.

agreed with pete here... and my name is pete, too :)

see the raised transom on my viper below...

my viper has zero setback, bolted straight to the transom, and as in pete's pictures, my motor is raised... but not by a bolt-on plate. my viper itself has a raised transom.

A 6" jack plate is WAY too much for a Viper. No more then a 4" for a Viper, with a 2" probably being ideal. And put the prop shaft even with the pad and go from there. If you do not have a low water pickup then raise your motor until you just start losing water pressure. But yes, that 6" plate on your Viper is hurting you. That is way to much set back for that little boat.

Ok, and why do you know this will help?
I'm just asking because it would be a fair bit of work to get all this done and it made no improvement .
