I have a Bob's Hydra-Jac that is 6 inches but I also use 2 inch blocks with it. I would consider the 505 lb's of the 300 befor you get to wild.

I have a 90 Vegas with a 6in CMC jackplate. It seems to work good.

setback on a new jackplate

I have a 2007 vegas with a 300xs merc , I now have the 6 inch setback and need to purchase another jack plate for my sons boat. I like the new atlas plate and am wondering what setback you guys would suggest I buy? My friends here tell me that I should keep the 6 inch because the moter is so heavy. I joined up as I am unsure what to do. Thanks for your time
