No, it's only around .003" thick. If it needs a bore, it will need to be stripped of the nic, bored, replayed and finish honed. Returning them to standard with a replate is most common.

US Chrome is the most common place to have it done. There are others though.

Can Nicasil be bored? I was told it couldn't an if so how much to bore a 245 block over 0.15 ?

I've been in Ron's shop when we were in town for the "frost your nuts" run oct '12 and it is clean and well organized. He cares about every piece he works on. I wouldn't send my stuff anywhere else.

Isn't Jay Smith down there in TX?

I have to make a couple main bearing spacers to be able to cut the decks true to the mains. It's on my "to do" list. I can cut off what's there, but to do it correctly, you must reference the mains to make it square. I'm going to make a shell mill mount for my large surfacing machine to do them. You can do them on a Bridgeport, but I'd rather have the stability of a 3000# machine with more substantial ways to do it dead on to the nuts. My verticle mill is like a toy compared to the big surfacer.

i just went through the process of trying to find a good machinest to deck the cylinder area on my promax.....i was trying to fix a f*ck up from another machinest.

if i need anymore work done....just a matter of time before i blow something up :roll: ....ill hit you up if your willing :up:
