Yep, my cap stringers were the same way. I have some filler pieces made to tab back in to the transom. Thanks for the info and pics!

Here is my vking, still need to lay down 2 layers of 1708, then tab in my outside braces where Hydrostream never attached the upper cap stringers to the transom.

Look at propriders thread on his Viper rebuild in the Restorations section. His transom is beautiful, and can probably hold 2 motors on it.

Knees will definitely help reduce the stress at the corners. If you do go with installing knees, just make sure they don't interfere with your engine mounting bolt holes.

I would say yes. Make sure first layup goes another 10 inches outside each side of the transom and the second 5 inches on each side. Maybe 7 inches and 5 inches, but something like that.

I tend to overthink things, probably should’ve stuck to the 1.5, Oh well. I’ll drop in some braces and call it a day then.

Thats a THICK transom! Factory is only 1 1/2 inches thick. Tire your stringers into the transom with some knees and you should have no issues with hanging anything you want on there.
