Well, if your just getting it to play with and sell probably not going to make much. But if your getting it to build as your own with no intention of selling id say go for it. Just my $.02 i have around $5600 in mine. Would i get that if i sold it? Maybe, maybe not. But to me having a stream isnt about making a profit or losing a little if i sell it. Its about keeping up a tradition that needs to be kept in the water.

that is my fear, especially since there is no way to tell what kind of condition the motor is actually in. He wont let me get my hands dirty before the purchase. I have been looking into just replacing the whole motor should run about 1k-1500 (most xr2's on CL) but there again i could just be buying a project there. I figured when i tear the motor down i will be able to tell whats up with it, if i need to bore it it might still be cheaper than buying a used motor and at least i know what is done to the motor. I have found some rebuild kits for around 900-1000 bucks. does that sound right? my biggest concern is to not get so far behind that i could never get what its worth, starting at 2 putting at the most 2 in it and just have some fun until i have to sell it, this boat should be worth around 4k? with everything gone through. judging by what most people are selling these for. asking anywhere bewtween 3500 5500. and cleaned up it will be a nice looking boat.

It seems that the value of just the boat is all you have to work with.

The motor could have more problems than just minor powerhead issues. I would price some used, complete, running motors because there's a possibility that that is what it'll cost to get you on the water.

im far from a boat mechanic. i piddled with my previous 87 2.4 and now with my 79-83? 2.4 200 and that about all i am familiar with. im sure someone else can chime in on the 2.0. but i would imagine it is very similar in most ways to a 2.4

if the boat itself is in goodshape id say its work 2k. depends what 150 is on it as to what you can value it at.

So i finally got to check the boat out better and brought a guy that somewhat knew what he was looking at. The hull seems perfect no soft spots and since floor core and transome was redone it has been garage kept. the motor however is the 150 merc needs freshening up, i priced out rings, waterpump and flush lower unit, replace streering cabels and for around 900 bucks i should be able to get it running, thats if i dont have to bore. everything is there just needs tlc and of course the powerhead gone through. the trailer is like i said dual axle with one brand new axle and good tires trailer is in good cond. comes with a GPS. He wants 2K for everything Is that a good price? Some boats i have been checking out want 5-7k T.K. others want 1-3K for a hull and rigging no motor. Just want some other views, I don't want a major project ( start with bare hull) but something that has everything just needs rebuilt might be for me for the price. Has everything, chopper prop, tuner, luvers (super cool), hot foot, foot trim (probly change to steering wheel). What kind of compression do the 150 mercs make stock xr2?
