Re: vector paint problem
The best thing I have found for a prep solvent short of using what the paint manufacturer recommends is clear rubbing alcohol. It evaporates fast and contains no impurities to cause problems. Most thinners like acetone and lacquer thinner can cause problems under solvent based finishes. Most thinner...

Re: vector paint problem
What kind of primer? Did it begin to crack immediately or as it dried? Did you wipe down with a prep solvent of some sort? I've seen primer mudcrack if it is laid on too heavy as well. It really sounds like surface contamination to me, probably wax. I had a guy bring an old stratos bass boat to me a...

Re: Fully restored Viper 4 sale **SOLD**
Not trying to de-rail this thread. I have a 73 im almost finished with. What kind of speeds and how was the handling with that setup. I'm leaning towards something similar. You can find all kind of info on the later style bottoms but not much on the viper and vector 1's. Thanks [ Post made via Andro...

Re: 75 viper restroration
Mike, I've got my boat off of the jig and your welcome to it. It may not work on your boat, but it would be worth a try.

Re: 75 viper restroration
My vector is still sitting on the jig I built. Your welcome to it,but it will be a few weeks befor I can put it back on the trailer. Mine is built for an early vector(no hook). I don't know if it will work on your later hull or not.

Re: 75 viper restroration
I'm restoring a 73 vector about an hour west of you in Crescent City FL. We got on the cobia strong this year out of St.Aug. They weren't cruising the beach up our way most were caught on the nearshore wrecks and reefs or on rays between 30' and 50'. I saw very few rays with fish on them along the b...

Re: my 09 homebuilt ( stealth )
Stealth, I have no desire to make a carbon copy of your boat. I've been working on mine for about 6 months now, long before I ever saw yours. The only modifications I plan to make to the topsides is a venom style windshield and sundeck and since you did just that, I thought you might be willing to sh...
