78 VIKING. GETTING STARTED ON THIS PROJECT.

I also left the battery hooked up so whenever I went to pull the motor off I could play with the tilt n trim so it came off with ease. Then just unhooked the electronics and pulled the boat away. It worked out really good. And ohh yea the itching will start quickly after that! I just finished gettin...

No problem! I'm glad you didn't use the strap. I don't know for sure if that would have turned out the best. I used 1/4 plate and went to the hardware store and got 4 of the flywheel bolts 1/4" longer so I had all the threads I could get without any play [ Post made via iPhone ] http://www.hydr...

Did you pull it off already? I made my own bracket. Instead of the Mercury lift sleeve that screws into the flywheel I took 4 bolts out and made a bracket to lift it

Started on the gunnels and braced more bunks. Do u think that's enough support under the hull and the proper way of doing it? Man that foam is going to be a long process

That's true. I know it's more expensive but I was also looking at weight reduction. The little bit of research I did it said it was 30-40 percent lighter. It was $198 for the piece for the transom and $67 for a sheet of that nidacore [ Post made via iPhone ] http://www.hydrostreamforums.com/ext/snip...

Thanks hippie! Do you use balsa for your core? I was thinking of using nidacore. And for my transom using coosaboard 1 1/2" thick. I will start cutting the gunnels out tomorrow. Did you make a jig or just leave it on the trailer? [ Post made via iPhone ] http://www.hydrostreamforums.com/ext/sni...
