Hi Adam I had to support the outside of the hull because of the stress cracks in the factory layup especially at the lifting strakes. I really needed the 2 layers in these areas. I use a 16 grit 4 1/2" disc with a rubber back-up pad. Flat gets with the program.

I'm assuming the picture you showed in your first post was taken awhile ago? I see WN numbers on it then and ID numbers that expired in 2016 now. Have you had the core checked out? Hey Bud Couple things I noticed. The stringers should bear against the finished transom not the outer skin.
