Re: Making a cockpit cover for an HST

I ran masking tape around the perimeter, marked off 6” spacing and 1/2” below the edge of the deck. (The cover was made to go 1” below the edge). I was planning on using pop rivets to attach the male buttons but saw that I had bags of thread in buttons . These don’t use the flange against the gel an...

Making a cockpit cover for an HST

Since I am going to be trailering the HST to Minnesota and the new owner requested it, I decided to build a cockpit cover to save the new interior from the road goo. I ordered 4 yards of 60” wide sunbrella fabric. Stretched it out over the boat and chalked the body lines. The windscreen was made sep...

Re: Baby Virage update and make-over

Thanks Kevin!! This one has been fun. Got the deck on, motor mounted, mini rigging tubes installed, shifter and interior put in. I had to angle the shifter to get room for your leg to get beside the steering wheel. I’m glad I dropped the floor!! It’s actually really comfortable. The motor was a free...

Re: Baby Virage update and make-over

Spent an hour plus masking off everything I didn’t want white.
The white gel sprayed on great.

Re: Baby Virage update and make-over

When I was sewing up the Voyagers interior, I stitched up the mini’s interior. Much much nicer than the one 20 years ago!! I tried to copy the full size Virage interior as best as possible. The hard part was sewing together 1/2 size tuck and roll (3/4” ) is not fun!!! [ Post made via iPhone ] https:...

Re: Baby Virage update and make-over

While waiting on the blue gel to arrive, I got a call from a fisherman friend saying he had a friend heading to Seattle in a 150’ packer and would bring my two boats there for free!! The bummer was that they had to be at the fish plant the next morning. Made a stand for the mini and bundled up the G...

Re: Baby Virage update and make-over

Since my current Virage has a splashwell lelete as well as a 1-1/2” drop in the delete portion, I needed to do the same to the mini. The splashwell was cut out and a mini “drop delete” was glassed in. Both half’s were sanded down to the original white gel and was starting the re-gel process. I had w...
