xr4 lowerunit reseal.

i noticed oil under my motor saturday. i drained what was left in the lower unit, and lightly pressuresied the lowerunit to look for bubbles. there is a major leak around the inner carrier seal. would someone let in know what im infor when i reseal it?

Took the virage out. No over heating issues, but im turning alot more rpms with the new lower unit.

The poppet valve opens at about 1800 rpm, should drop the pressure about 10 psi im not sure what a poppet valve is, what it looks like, or where it is. when it drops the pressure about 10 psi, does that mean it regulates the pressuer at constant 10 psi, or does it drop it 10 psi from where it is at...

the water pickup seal worked. i now have 10-11 psi at idle. it drops to 7 as i rev it. not sure why? ive ordered a whole waterpump assemebly. might as well start with all new parts. ill have to weight till saturday for a test run, it gets dark at 6:00 when i get out of work. thanks for all the help ...

think i may have found the problem. the rubber seal in the waterpump, where the pickup tube goes in is completely missing. i found this by compareing each componit of my old unit, and the new deffective one. im on my lunck break, so i wont reasembl and test till after 6:00, let u know what hapens. m...

i have to assume the problem is in the lowerunit. i hooked a garden hose directly to the water intake fitting on the water pump to flush the salt water from the motor. i expected to see better pressuer, but no. still 2-5 psi. the water hose puts out more than that. my next plan is to completely repl...
