Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Thanks Kevin!! Spent half of the day block sanding the deck getting all the waves flattened out. The other half was spent masking it off for the black. The front deck “triangle” was very time consuming. It’s not straight lines. I had to make a template from the right side to get my marks for the lef...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Dehydrated, no documents found, to my knowledge. ( wink). I had the shop heat down a bit and the gel I sprayed yesterday hadn’t fully kicked. I scuffed the surface and let it off gas this morning and spent a couple hours blowing out the interior, vacuuming, and masking off the inside. Aluminum foil ...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Got the putty sanded out, windscreen fitted, gelcoat ( primer) sprayed on. The rear deck was pretty wavy. I hit it with the inline sanding board till the gelcoat got thin. I threw on a couple coats of white gel to fill in the slight low areas. With it being black, I want this area as flat as possibl...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Well good. That was the plan. Lol!! New drain plugs were put in. The center one was a challenge as the rolled edge isn’t on a flat ( square) surface. It’s in an arched area and the tube had to be scribed, cut and a rolled lip fabricated to fit perfectly flush. While rolling it back over, I got pour ...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Yesterday I spent 7 hours wet sanding the clear with 600 then 1500. I let that sit “open” overnight to off-gas. Today I spent 8 hours buffing. Super duty 3M with a wool pad Regular 3M compound and wool pad 6” random orbit with “The chemical guys “ # 32& 34 micro finishing compounds. Tomorrow wil...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Today I wet sanded the stripes flat and got two coats of clear on. I’ve been rolling the boat outside to spray then promptly rolling it back in. Saves making a booth. It’s bright, no dust, no bugs. Well, today a few bugs were emerging and decided to land in the clear. I was hoping to not sand anymor...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Black went on and stripes unmasked.
Hopefully tomorrow I can wet sand and spray the clear.

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Last of the stripes (Dark gray) on this morning. Wet sanded all black area again and got rub rail perimeter masked off. Stern D-rings were loosened and pulled out so gel can get behind them. Drain tubes are pulled and holes plugged off. [ Post made via iPhone ] https://www.hydrostreamforums.com/ext/...

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Medium gray went on with no issues. Another small batch of gelcoat putty was put on windscreen. After I mask each color, I go over the area with 180 grit again just to make sure I have good “tooth”. [ Post made via iPhone ] https://www.hydrostreamforums.com/ext/sniper/mobiledevice/images/iPhone.png

Re: ‘89 HST rebuild ( Blown out bottom)
Yep, that’s it. Got the light gray on this morning. Pictures look the same as before but they’re not . Lol!! Had some extra gel in the gun. Rather than dump it, I added some thickener and made putty for the windscreen. [ Post made via iPhone ] https://www.hydrostreamforums.com/ext/sniper/mobiledevic...
