Re: Foam Core

Hi, your questions are more complicated than they appear. As I understand foam and balsa are essentially installed the same. But why foam? Because It doesn't rot...as fast. If not sealed properly it'll hold water (weight) and ultimately rot, just like wood. ...just sayin. ;) As far as only rep...

Re: vagas xt mess, how much to $ offer

Hey there, welcome. I have an XT and I love it. My Vegas has a lot of attributes like a smooth rough water ride, no porpoising, and a larger interior, but it's more than two feet longer and 25% heavier than a Vking. It' néeds a lot more power (read dollar$) to keep up with a 650 lb. Vector or Vking....

Re: new member with a 78 viper

I suspect that water will be pressured out of those holes at speed. I've never seen that before. Possibly, they first closed up the upper holes and later added the cone but didn't close the remaining holes.

Anyone else?

Re: another newb

Welcome! :)

If you're concerned about the core, since you already have the carpet up, you might cut a piece of the floor out. Maybe a 2 foot square near the back. Now you'll be able to see everything necesary to make a accurate diagnosis. If all is good, just reglass the floor piece back.

Nice choice of motor, it'll be quick!

Does it have water pickups at the prop shaft too?

Re: 1987 Hydrostream Voyager

Welcome,

For top speed?
Without knowing anything else about your setup, the answer is a lot.
Both the Vpad and XT will take 10 or more, maybe a little less with a heavy motor.

Re: 89 Valero YT

Welcome, let's go at it from this angle. What is a nice one worth? Now, subtract the cost of replacing the rotten parts. Subtract for paint or cosmetic fiberglass repair. Does the rotten one have steering? If not, subtract the cost that. Gauges? Interior? Ka-Ching. Ka-Ching. Oh yeah, consider the tr...
