I've seen this come up a few times on Facebook. Contrary to what your neighbour tells you...or your buddy who builds offshore race boats...but slicing up 2x4s and using that as a core material because it's cheaper than balsa (and by extension, even more cheaper than composites) is NOT a good idea. h...

Im surprised NB being a (somewhat) Atlantic province that boat-building suppliers seem scarce. I guess NS, PEI, and N/L would have the bulk of that industry though.
