What engine? On my merc, there is a fitting on the top of the block rearward of the flywheel.

On my Johnson I have it hooked up in the line going from the block to the tell tale (piss tube). Uses a simple T. Works well. There might be more optimum locations, but that is where mine was set up so I just left it there.

On V-6 loopers there is a brass nipple on the lower right (from the back). Remove the nipple and replace with the push in fitting that comes with the gauge, Just did mine last week. Good Luck!
