Given the choice of drilling holes, and adding a plate, I'd probably add the plate. Had to redrill my transom for the 15 inch mid last year, and I was cryin for a week. :cry1:

Did you notice a big difference going to a 15" mid? Run the motor a lot lower anyways.

Biggest thing was to get the motor back down, I was getting uncomfortable with how high the engine was above the transom, and I still wanted the propshaft higher. Drivability wise, I see little change, but the Ventura has always been one of the most well mannered Streams anyway. There may be more benefit with the other models.

I'm probably not the best "test dummy", I drive like Granny nowadays, but I sure do seem to be wreckin a lot more gearcases :lol:

The fact it's trim angle and speed dictating setback makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation.

There was some loose foam bouncing around in the bilge, below the floor. I busted it up and pulled it out. Probably one square foot, 3 inches thick...dry as a potato chip in the Arizona sun. It's a good sign.
