Spoke with a guy who has had some experience with hydrostream and he seems to think I'm gonna have major porpoising issues. says I ned to rework bottom. Want yalls opinion.
When I got the vector the pad had already been modified. The concave cup had been taken out.now the pad is square. All I did to the bottom was sharpen all the strakes.
My plan on set up is to go with a bobs 2 in 1 jackplate allowing me to choose between a 2 inch or 5 inch setback.
Starting with prop some where around pad. hydrostream org says he ran vectors motor on trans with alot of success
And I've also heard vector guys like around 5 inch setback.
Any opinions? vector guys with experience?
Boats also came with trim tabs. Think about replacing?
I dont plan on touching the pad until I run the boat. Just in search of some info

Re: Vector porpoising
Hard to say what its gonna do till ya get it in the water. I cant tell you how a boat will perform just by it sitting on a trailer. All about seat time
Take Chets Vegas for instance, He can drive that thing up on the pad great but he let a friend in the boat club use it this last season for the races and it was all over the place for that guy. I thought he was gonna toss himself right out the boat a few time. LoL
Just get it done, in the water, then tune from there.

Re: Vector porpoising
Unfortunately, I can't remember a conversation I've had about a Vector with a modified bottom, that came to a happy ending. I think you've got your work cut out for you. Wish I had better news.

Re: Vector porpoising
Go with the bob's and set it at 2.5" that way moving it up or down is a lot easier. As far as the bottom is concerned I'm with TS but since it's already been messed with you will need to drive it first and see what it does. I can make my viper porpoise if I try but it's all in trim angle, that and I rarely drive at 40 mph. I would stay away from the tabs.

Re: Vector porpoising
My Viper 2 has the OEM trim tabs. They are said to really help reduce porpoising.

Re: Vector porpoising
i've herd its more of a racing setup. harder to drive, but should run faster and turn better. (just what i've herd) tabs are going to slow you down...get rid of them
