trim ? for 77 viper

Post: # 1630Post ccrick »

One of my trim cylinders is leaking a little where the cylinder threads into the clamp. I have the old style where the hydrolics run through the bottom bolts. both cylinders were kinda loose and I snugged them up but the one still seeps. I have a manual but it don't cover this clamp! What am I in for???

What pump is it? I'm guessing a 3 ram, the only manual I have here now is for the newer 3 ram and it doesn't have any external lines.
If it's the stock pump list your ser# and I can look at a parts breakdown to see where you are talking about, I can't picture it in my head.

Ok I see your running a single with your pump in the boat. Is it leaking at the fitting where the hyd line goes into the cyl?
If it is tilt iap and use the tilt lock or something so it can't come down. Remove the line and look for junk or a bad o'ring it shouldn't be bad to fix. I'll look into it a little more tomorrow at work.

It's old. Before the bolt pattern (BIA) standards. I'll send you the ser # tomarrow. It's a 2 ram setup and the fluid runs through the bottom transom mounting bolts. Thanks, Rick

It's leaking where the cylinder screws into the clamp. It's kinda hard to explain. I'll snap a pic of it and send it with the ser #. Thanks

Alright, the ser # is 4967268
the fluid seeps up through the threads where the cylinder screws into the bracket.

I think I found what p/n the cylinder is. It looks like that clamp was used on the XR2's back then. The cylinder p/n is 79114a4. I'm sure it's just an o-ring in there. I double checked my manual and nothing like it. :?: :?: :?:

Wow. Thats what I was afraid of. I'll take it apart and see whats in there. I don't look hard. Prop the motor up and it looks like it'll come right out of there. Well, thanks for lookin into it. Don't look like any shake down weather very soon here. Rain wind and more rain.
