Johnson 115 vs 135

Post: # 6072Post rjlehr13 »

I am looking at either a 1975 Johnson 135 or a 1975 Johnson 115 to put on th eback of my Viper. My question is what is the main difference between the two motors? Both are V-4's, very similar in weight and size. Will the 135 give me a noticibale difference in power, speed and torque over the 115? Thanks!

Those will be crankshaft rated HP so expect to loose 10-15%. They are the same block and the 115 can be made into a 135 but I don't know enough about them to say what needs to be changed. Unless they are cheap I would look for something in the late 80's, they are propshaft rated HP.
