I ran into one of those a couple years ago but it was built into the boat kind of like the old L drive merc. Either one is unique to say the least.

ur right russ. you could sumerge the early versions motors. Used a lot on offshore fishing boats that had deep drafts and take swells to the stern. I remember seeing an advertisement on them and they were hammering them in reverse into waves and just burying them. Theres a umbilical that runs through the mount for controls and air. Later versions did't. Never really took off though. Quite heavy and a lot of problems with steering and hydrolics.

Wow! Not something you see everyday. Looks like it didn't perform very well. Good intent maybe.

was called the "SeaDrive system". never caught on but I feel it was a precursor to the bracket systems used now
