81 vector adventure

Post: # 14017Post steve3340 »

Well I started posting in fiberglass and material. Now I'm in deep so figured I would move to here. No work this weekend had my kids. That's how this all started. Lol! I will hit it hard Monday after work. Here are a few pics of where I started to last weekend.

Realy? Thought they'd all be the same? I don't think this one was ever touched since the core in the pad was just mud. And there was foam along side the stringers. Btw how or why would the foam in the gunnels get wet? From midway back to stern

My vulture is roven. Im not sure what was over the original core though as someone tried to repair my core with plywood. That was not fun to try and get out at all. :(

Good question on the foam. I couldnt see that getting all that wet seeing its well above the floor.

I'm getting ahead of myself here but have another question. If I have the $ I would like to re do the gelcoat. I have painted a few cars, and not just clunkers. Anyway any ideas on how much material will cost me? The bottom still shines well but does have some stress cracks. Its my understanding the finish gel also helps keep water out of the glass? And how the hell do you guys flip these things over???

Well been spending any free time I get grinding. Its like concrete! This is where I'm at and hope to get core down & covered next weekend. 3 day weekend, kids with there mom, I do have them Sunday for a while but rest of the day free and its the only time I can get it in the shop so looks like I will have some late nights. Divorce really bites! Lost all the toys and my own place to work in :( . But I got all my material and think I'm in good shape. Any words of wisdom out there?

Looks good, I completely understand how painfully slow progress can seam but it's still progress.

My tip would be to send the kids under the bow.

Its been a bit since Ive sent in a progress report. Core is in :) worked some late nights over Easter weekend I was shot Monday. I hope to have the transom in next weekend and start on stringers. Thins seem to go alot better after all the grinding is done. Except for looking like a wooly mamouth while laying in glass. Lol! I will have to take some more pics the ones I have are to big to upload

I re sized some pics. I'm not sure if I will have $ for paint . So any ideas what I should do about stress cracks in gel coat on hull? Do I need to repair them for this year or is it OK to leave for next year?
