Re: My 1974 Vector Restoration
Thanks for the comments.
We too thought that it looked pretty weird and like you guys thought someone cut up some spruce 2 x 4's. It would be a lot of additional work but would it really weigh that much more? I was wondering what if you consider what I am going to pay to get balsa core shipped to Saint John, NB Canada if we couldn't do something similiar but use cedar which is much more resistant to rot than spruce and may weigh a bit less than spruce?
If the concensus is use Balsa Core than we will have to bite the bullet and pay the extra money. Does anyone know the best place to order balsa core that ships internationally?
When we were trying to pry up all the crap we found a soft spot in the back of the boat. It seems like it was a hole all the way through the boat that was filled with auto body filler, possibly short hair body fill. Anyway as you can see in the two pics below now we have a significant hole in the boat.
Here are two more pics of the spruce 2x4 end cuts that are actually pretty solid and hard without any gaps or spaces underneath.
Now in the center of the boat that runs almost the length of the boat we found what looks like regular 3/8" plywood , is that suppossed to be there?
We appreciate your advice and look forward to hearing your comments.
We will be posting more soon as we get dirty and very itchy once again!
Thanks,
Bradley

I'm sure there is a supplier in Canada that you can order from, check on fastboatscanada.com, they should be able to help out.

Re: My 1974 Vector Restoration
I'm going to say vector from the pictures. Looks like a great candidate for a restoration.

Re: My 1974 Vector Restoration
Have you checked the hull ID numbers ,they will tell you year and model. Looks like late 70's on up due to the floatation and high floor.

Hey rocketman4u, Welcome to the forums and nice looking project there.
I ask that you please start your own topic as this is someone elses topic and I dont want to confuse members with 2 completely different subjects in one topic. Thank you.
