Re: Viper rebuild
Finally got the core out. Not sure what was the worst, the itchy or the thought of how nasty that 30+ year old rotted wood was spitting in my face as I was chipping at it.

Re: Viper rebuild
That's my step going in/out of the hull. I'll remove it after I get the stringers and center core installed. Ordered the core material and it should arrive next week.

Re: Viper rebuild
I see black wood on that transom. I would take that out as well cause if its black it is or has been really wet and needs to be replaced, and then tie your stringers into your transom with some knees. Thats just what I would do seeing you have the deck off and stuff.
Kind of like Chet did on his viper and many of us on our rebuilds...
Here is how Chet did his and I did mine pretty much the same - http://www.hydrostreamforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=88&start=10#p2312

Re: Viper rebuild
Transom replacement is on deck, along with stringers tied into the transom. I have some good ideas in mind after reviewing all the other rebuild threads, on how i'm going to do the stringers.

Re: Viper rebuild
As Hippie pointed out, the transom had plenty of wet wood. It's all out now.
