Re: restoring a Ventura II
Keep in mind that im not a professional boat builder. I have managed to get some rigging done even with all the setbacks. Feels like 1 step forward and 2 steps back every time I touch it. Well, I have the gauges mounted and mostly wired, switch panel mounted and wired, bow and stern lights mounted, transom tie down eyes in and motor/jackplate mounted. We (quarterhorse and I) took our time mounting the jackplate to make sure its centered and level with the pad. This took longer than expected, but I feel we did it the right way. I have found it very difficult to drill into fresh gel that I have spent so much time working with. Overall, Im pretty happy with the hull.
Once I got the motor mounted to the jackplate and started to let it down the front of the trailer started to come up. Fudge! I moved the boat forward on the trailerand that created a problem with the nosecone hitting the center roller. I threw a sandbag on the front for now as it was getting late. I crawled under the trailer and found out the axle, fenders and steps are on a sub assembly thats bolted to the trailer frame. Sweet! Tomorrow I will move the axle back and get this balanced out.

Re: restoring a Ventura II
Here is todays progress... Had to make a cut to make room for the fuel tank. Looks like a giant space, but its really not. Then, I cut, fit and glued the carpet in. F the carpet work. I'm not a carpenter. Here's pics...

Re: restoring a Ventura II
Got it on the picture taking - Boat looks great. We've been slowly chipping away at the core on the Ventura II, but out main focus is finishing the splash well delete / transom replace on the Vulture. Now comes the rewarding part for you. Getting everything back in the boat and doing it exactly like you want it, custom to your needs. The dash looks great. Keep posting the progress! Bill

Re: restoring a Ventura II
Thanks. The nice comments keep my motivation going. I'm working on fitting the trailer to the hull right now. It was under a bass hull. So far i've move the axle back 18" and have about 100lbs of tongue weight. This is without the steering, fuel tank and battery installed. Im thinking it needs to go back another two inches to be safe.
I want a gps speedo but didn't want to pay for it at the time. They are spendy! I will just use a handheld when i want to know the speed. None of the water i boat in has limits anyway.
