Re: restoring a Ventura II

Post: # 18820Post nosboss »

Ok, i have the boat rigged. Hotfoot, controls, battery, fuel tank, steering and front seats are in. Everything works except for the trim gauge. For some reason I can't figure it out. I ran into problems with the fuel tank as well. After installing the fitting the tank is too tall to go all the way back like i designed it too. My own fault. The tank is mounted so I can make some test runs. I didn't even trim the fill tube hose down. I've run out of money so a new tank and the back seat have to wait. At least the boat runs and is drive-able. It still needs rigging tube, back seat, trim, stereo and some misc things. I will be heading to the river hear shortly for some shake down runs. Quarterhorse will be following with his vector and the gopro. Video and pics will be posted.

Here is the final look other than the buffing that needs finished. Last pic is of quarterhorse waiting to drive it!

The shake down run went OK. The boat is a little hard to drive with the prop shaft being 2'' under the pad. It wanted to torque steer real bad and bounce a lot. I have some learning to do, thats for sure. The compliments never stopped flying though. Even I can say the boat looked good. Lol. Its very *** heavy with the omc and 5'' plate. With me in it, the wings are either under the water or right at it.

Its hard to believe all the work finally paid off and i got to take it for a drive. I want to thank everyone's support along the way and now. lets keep the top side up and ejoy these old streams!

Looks killer man! Congrats!

Makes me cry a little cause mine is about half way done and being a single dad I have had just about every curve ball thrown at me trying to get mine finished. :(
