76 Hydrostream Ventura II SE - Restore Project
Re: 76 Hydrostream Ventura II SE - Restore Project
Well, I'm about done with the floor, just have some minor cleanup around the edges. I have not seen any detailed pics of a Ventura core removed, is it just the stringers and the space between them, or does it extend outside of the stingers? I guess i will take your advice regarding removing the core, I don't think it should be too much work, compared to removing the entire floor..

Getting started on removing core. I have a 2"X10"X10' setup under the pad, and the trailer seems to be holding things together fine, I am wondering if i need any additional support when i start getting more of the core removed?

Now you are getting somewhere. Look at all that rot. The stringers are half gone too. Take it all out until all that's left is a smooth fiberglass bottom from transom to bow. I'd do the transom at the same time. From the looks of it, it needs to be done too.

Yes, Transom is coming out.. there will be nothing but the fiberglass shell when it's done.

That's good. It's more work, but in the end you'll have a safe boat that will last at least another 40 years. My Ventura II and Viking projects are on hold for the summer while I boat, but will start them back up here in a couple of weeks. I'll try to post some pictures of mine when I get back into them. For now, it's just enjoying the Vulture.

Re: 76 Hydrostream Ventura II SE - Restore Project
Almost done with core, I left the front part in so I could have more support while taking out the steering wheel, cables (going to hydraulic steering), and gauges. Now I only have the front 1/3 of the core to remove. After removing the core, I should be ready to get some work done. I found somewhere to do my transom and since they are more experienced than me with fiberglass, they will do the transom, core, floor and gel coat repairs. So, I guess i will move on to the motor. I was thinking of doing a rebuild kit for the 77 Evinrude 140. I will also have to start looking for a good jack-plate (probably just a regular manual with 6" of travel). Going back in with interior, I was thinking of two buckets in the front and a bench in the rear up against the spalsh well, incorporating a ski pole into that same area.. Well, I have a bunch of ideas, but don't know for sure what i will do yet..

Re: 76 Hydrostream Ventura II SE - Restore Project
I know this isn't the right forum, and I have posted this in the "Fiberglass and Composites Discussion" forum, but just wanted to know if anyone had used this for re-coring ?
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen or used SphereCore SBC?
