87 Vector project

Post: # 22077Post Fast pace »

I'm in the process of fully going through a 87 vector which is my first Hydrostream. I've completed the core with 1/2 balsa from transom to the tip of the bow. Replaced transom with Seacast. Finally cut and layied in the floor out of 3/4" marine ply. And while looking through vector projects I see that the floor in my vector seems a lot slimmer then most vector, That seem way wider than mine. Can any body inform me why this is??? Thanks

Welcome to the forum. :)

Looks good... But that seacast... I personally would not use that stuff, especially on a performance hull like a Hydrostream. Thats just me though. Honestly, I think you are the first person I have heard of use that stuff on a hydrostream/performance hull.

Was looking at your pictures again, did you put core down the pad and on the outside of your stringers? Also, I hope them stringers are marine grade wood.

Yea just don't have a pic of it. It's on top of the pad and on the out side of the stringers. What's your thoughts on the Seacast? I was turned on to it by a few friend using in for there transom also I'm hydrostreams.

From what I have seen, Seacast is for low powered non-performance boats. Not ones made to run 80+ mph. Also I have always seen it used as a means to band-aid a repair. I have never personally used the stuff, nor will I ever in a performance boat, and I have never seen one person recommend it in a performance application, ever. Replace it with wood, or composite (coosa board). I have seen 100's of performance boat restos and not one of them has used the stuff that I have seen. Now, I'm not saying it wont work cause I have never used the stuff, but I also wont put my trust in it at 80+ mph.
