Vector build with pics

So vectors originally came with the floor one level up to just in front of the seats or at the bulkhead. At this point (in the case of my vector at least) there was a slight ledge where the floor raised approx 1-1.5" & finished out under the deck at this height. My question is, could one cut a section of the floor out specifically in the feet area? What i have in mind is like that of the v-king where there is a step down & "foot well" then the step up. Would i be risking structural integrity & strength by allowing this voided floor space duplicating the floor of a v-king or would it make no difference?

My Viper's 1/2" or 5/8" (i never measured, just a guess) plywood floor "ended" at the foot rest under the dash, as did the fiberglass keelbox. The "floor" past the footrest was just a triangular sheet of fiberglass with no wood structure under it, so it wasn't really adding any strength. However this section of the hull did also have 1/2' balsa core all the way up almost to the bow eye. I suspect the Vector is the same.

So I doubt it would make any difference. The forward "step up" floor in the VKing is also just a fiberglass air box, as you can see.

However, ending the floor at the dash and leaving the forward section just as bare hull means no mounting of hardware, like a HotFoot.

i actually just went ahead & put it back as before. Overall im not sure it would have hurt it to leave the foot well. Figured, I've come this far in the process so why leave it to chance. The vector, what i removed from mine anyway, had the floor to the dash like your viper, the step up extending 1"-2" guessing. The ledge was actually in this case the overlapping fiber glassed joint of another 2 feet or so, maybe less, of the plywood floor. Where this short section ends is where the air box started & extended to the bow. My thinking was that as the floor provides a lateral brace support, so to speak, across for the rear section of the hull once glassed in gives strength overall the covered area. I probably gave a little too much thought to it but the more i thought about the more it made sense. As far as im aware & aware of the viper layout i am not; the vector & viper are fairly similar in core placement & floor layout. Though the 2' or so of plywood floor beyond the step up & before the keel box/air box in my vector could be just the difference in the length of the 2 hulls.

Anyway, thanks for the input on the matter!

Of course the floor is wider in a Vulture (and Vking) then a Viper and Vector. The Vector and Viper use the same core and floor layout pretty much.

Its amazing how much foam is in there once you start digging it out. I wont be putting any foam back in my Vector when I get around to redoing it.

Definitely a lot of foam. Wet, heavy foam. I didn't put it back. Planning to use the area they were occupying for a cargo/grocery net type storage. Fire extinguisher, nav lights, small cooler or 2. Thinking about glassing in an insulated cup holder for each front seat. Lots of ideas but one can go overboard & create clutter adding too many extras.
