Re: 1977 Vulture Rebuild
Aww guys... Your making me blush!
I dont know what to say but thanks. And it my pleasure to have this place for all of us. No one else was putting a site up so I decided I had the resources to go ahead with it so thats what I did. I hope be able to get some time soon to really get things rolling here and really get this place on the map.
Watch for more work to come on the boat in the next week or two. I plan to have it atleast all cleaned up and hopefully start getting it back together before the snow falls but if not it will be all cleaned up for sure. Some set backs with work and such put my plans on hold for a bit but its time to get cracking on it again.
PM for my address. If you do have one im sure its the wrong one as I moved 2 months ago.

I second that. Thanks Hip. Also, great to see you making some progress. I never thought of that approach. Float the old core out of it. Keep up the good work. Bill

Re: 1977 Vulture Rebuild
Well, I know its not core work but I did manage to get what was left of the windshield out of the frame. It was not hard at all but a little tricky.
Here are my tools of choice. A small scraper. Don't want one to big. The thinner it is the better. And a part of a hose clamp. It was stripped out so I didn't feel bad cutting it up.
First thing is to locate the little clips in the frame and place each tool as shown to release the clip.
And then give it a nice little pull and it should come out. Now my windshield was already half gone and all busted up so I broke it even more to make it easier to work with but one that is still in one piece should be easy. Just take your time working from one end to the other pulling it up a tiny bit at a time.
Here is what the clips look like. Hard to see in the picture but you get the idea.
And here is how my clips were making sure it doesn't come out. Notice the little holes in the windshield.
And here is what I ended up with... All ready for some paint and a new windshield now.
Hopefully I will get more grinding done tomorrow. I will have about 2 hours free to work on it I think.

Re: 1977 Vulture Rebuild
There was about ten clips in there I think. The edges where its most rounded there were 2 clips really close together then they are spaced out a lot more.
Russ, sounds good! Can't wait.

Re: 1977 Vulture Rebuild
Well, had a really good day yesterday and Chet seen first hand how much of a headache this thing has been due to a really poor previous repair job. If this was all original I would have been done long ago but its just been a nightmare to work on thanks to very poor workmanship on the repairs.
Don't worry, I will have some good pictures later today. I am also going to try and grind on it some more today but we'll see how I feel.
