I would get rid of the ply, someone tried that on mine and when I cut the laminant off, it was barely adhered to the hull, not good. This is something real important for boats that run at speed. Delam is dangerous at speed let alone it could sink. I would be leary of it. JMO. By the way, Welcome
Rick.

Re: vixen resto
I think the ply is just in the floor. I don't think vixens have a core.

*hey hst4me , what kind of 75 horse do you have ? ive never heard of a husler ? do you have any mods done to it? hows the boat handle at that kind of speed?
*the boat was set up for a 20'' but i made the transome higher and am putting a jack plate on just so i have plenty of adjustment to play with .
* no the boat didn't have a core from the factory , the ply that was put in afterword doesn't really concern me since the boat wasn't cored to begin with , and the stringers and floor that i put in are much stronger that the factory seemed to be.

Re: vixen resto
1975 evinrude hustler 75 hp. The motor has 2 .030's in it. I just bolted the thing on, set the timing at 20 degrees and ran the **** out of it. It handles fine in a straight line, but does'nt turn for beans. I bought it to race in the V-75 class, but going to use a viper instead. I ran the motor on the transom, up and down, plus a 4 inch and a 6 inch set back. It wails along with the 6 inch the best.
It'll have a 12 inch 150 inline merc on it next spring.
