84 viper Plum Loco
I hope all is well. I have been working on this race color 1984 viper. Originally named plum loco. I picked this up from a good friend of mine, he has a viking project going on also. This is my second viper recore, hopefully you can appreciate the rare color combo. Much like my previous rebuild I chose epoxy resin, I feel it's worth it for the bonding strength and protection from water intrusion.. I picked up a full roll of 1708 from a local supplier, stitched fabric, meaning no binder to cause issues with the epoxy. Transom material is a similar product to coosa, however it is called Airex PXC board. As far as I know it is a comparable product. The core material is a pvc foam core, also an airex product. Airex c70.75. This is not a common material for the hydrostream crowd, however, after installing and lamination, I feel it is also satisfactory. I'm excited to get this thing back on the water.

Once you start, we know things get messy. I'm sure the neighbors were not thrilled. But it's all temporary.

Re: 84 viper Plum Loco
A new post of the boat project. The airex products are shown here. the transom material was a fairly large sheet, more than enough to build up the transom, which was cut to size, and I will use the remaining material for a bulkhead at the front of the stringer box, drain plug block, and sections of floor where I plan to mount the fuel tank and battery and driver's seat. The foam core was very easy to work with. cutting it was seemingly easy from the mesh side. Just slide a box cutter through it along your marked lines. and it snaps apart. it was especially easy to shape the foam at the edges of core where you want the glass to lay down tight in the corners.

Re: 84 viper Plum Loco
I made a real effort to ensure the fabric laid down smoothly with no air pockets.
