I got right in there and mucked it up for about 3 hours haha got out the left side core. Itchy! Im doing this off the trailer so i made sure everythings supported good along the chine's and under the pad start with the one side first then the other. This core is extremely rotton, I checked out your rebuild Bill, looks great. Im putting together a list of materials now. Aprrox how much resin is needed? 10 gallons? I got a few pics but cant seem to figure out how to post them?

I like the pictures. I have used 10 gallons already, but made a few mistakes mixing at first and used extra glassing my mongo triple thick stringers together. I will be at about 12 gallons, but 10 should do it. Yeah - the worse the core the easier it is to remove. Keep u the good work. Bill

Looking awsome! Mine was originally the same color. Red metal flake. :)

Hopefully mine will be all cleaned up before the snow flies. Only have a few weeks till then I think.

ya its definiatly getting colder fast. I have a nice woodstove in the shop just needs to be hooked up.
Ive done alot of reading of other threads on this site (great stuff). Im a little confused in how the transom is attached. Im in the process of building a stand to take the boat off the trailer and deciding on rebuilding the transom.
How does the transom come out? is there a very thin strip of the glass left along the outside or a hole cut and the whole piece comes out? Also wondering how does the new transom wood attach to the boat to be solid enough along the sides? not sure if im making sense maybe there is a thread with pictures of this on here I cant find. any help is appreciated. thanks. darcy

Cut out the splashwell and take it out from the inside. I was so glad mine was good. Keep up the good work and get that wood burner hooked up! :boating:

Whats the best order to get to taking out the old, ive decided to replace the transom just incase it is bad.. what im wondering is if I should get the old transom wood out first or all the core first?.. or if it really even matters and just take everything out starting at the front, then install the new transom wood and work my way back up to the front.

I don't think it matters what order you do it. I had it all out at once on my viper and put the transom back in after most of the core was done and I needed a break before going under the dash. I'm leaving the transom in until I'm done with all the core on the vking so I can lift the hull and weigh it along the way.

The only thing that would make life a lot easier is to lay out all the core and get it cut to shape then take it out and start to lay it down in the bow and work your way back.
