thanks chet and everyone else, glad I have everyone here on the forum to help out.

It don't really matter just as long as everything is supported good. No core, no transom=noodle. If your going to do braces, I'd do the transom first. It's pretty easy to check though. Grind the inside layer of glass off and get a good look. poke at it, even drill into it with a 1/8 drill. There's been a few of us that were lucky. Mine was a little stained at the bottom but solid. Keep at it! Solid hull, ton of setback and a big motor means fun!

thanks rick, ill get to work when i can and get some pictures up. Nice thing is I got my garage area all set up, so working on it while i can through the winter, even at night!.. is a huge bonus. Heated garage, and a fridge full of cold drinks makes things alot easier

Wondering if someone could tell me what this foam like material is for? Its under the deck along the sides of the boat. Was it factory? thanks.. having troubles uploading pictures

As for then foam, I am guessing your talking about the foam boxes the run the entire length of the boat on each side. I dont know that the 77 model year had the foam boxes from the factory as mine did not but they could have also been removed. They just help aid in flotation if the boat were to capsize, flip, etc... so it doesnt sink or sink as fast.

Yep, that's flotation foam from the factory. It's up to you if it stays or not, it's usually dry and doesn't weigh much. I took it out of my vking and ended up with 5 large bags of foam.

This site is neat, I think we all are doing a service to preserve a the works of a iconic boat company, that designed and built hulls that were on the cutting edge of looks and performance.
With that said I would like to ask you all a quick poll question:
What do you use?,,, Epoxy resin?,,, Polyester resin?,,, or vinyl ester resin?,,,, And the why you used it?
