I use 2 layers of 3/4 if I don't have the 2 oz mat. If you round the corners of the stringers a bit it will help it lay flat.

I used the 1708 to tab everything in with. I ran it as high as I could up the outside of the stringer and did the same on the inside when I laid 1708 over pad core. Then when I glassed the floor down I caped the stringer with csm.

Rounding the edges would help big time. For in side corners I used the cabosil to round out, laying the mat down while it was still wet to avoid air pockets

I finally got some time and pushed hard on the boat for 3 weeks, got it all sanded down and then added a layer of 3/4 oz mat throughout the hull, bonded in the new 1/2 marine ply transom (3 peices of 1/2"), made the stringers out of the same plywood ( 2 peices of 1/2")and just staggered the joints and got them tabbed in today with 1708 after bedding them in thickened resin and filleting the sides. I also decided to make peices from the deck down to the hull, thought it would help it from twisting. Hope it works!. Im now all set to install the new balsa core.. Thanks to everyone for the advice and help.. im sure ill need more soon when it comes time to sand and paint!

I tried as close as possible to duplicate the original seats. Do you have the old ones to use as a template? If not, pm me and I can help with design and dimensions. They are a little heavier than some newer style seats but I really wanted to stay with the original look. The back seat was a complete re-design that I tried to match what I had on my original 77 Vulture. The 79 had more of a wrap around back seat but it was not removable. I thought I needed a way to pull it out to get in the back of the boat. It has come in real handy already. My bilge stopped working and I needed to pull it all out and get back to the well. Bill

Sorry, I must have missed this post Hippie. Yes my 79 has foam but my 77 did not from the factory. I believe my boat was the 17th ever made in 77. Later that year they must have started using foam. A side note is the 77 did sink a couple of times. I don't think the foam would have kept it up either. Nothing more awkward than seeing the boat still tied to the pier and sitting on the bottom of the lake. But I was just a teenager back then.

I also cut some of my foam out of the 79 because I installed Yellow Rope Lighting that runs down both sides of the boat and put it on a seperate switch. It really looks great at night and helps with night loading and unloading.
