Re: Viking recore
How did you mount the seats to the pedestals? I have an idea how I am going to mount mine so I dont have any screws to expose the wood to potential moisture. That way also I can remove them if I need to for whatever reason. I guess I will cross that road when I come to it. LoL
Just trying to get ideas now so I have some what of a direction when it all goes back together.

Re: Viking recore
There are threaded inserts on the bottm of my seat so I just drilled the pedistals to match the seats, glassed them in and when the time came, 4) 1/4-20 stainless bolts and washers per seat

Re: Viking recore
How wide is each section of core you have there? I know my plywood core pieces are not that wide and want to make sure I get it right when I put this thing back together. lolccrick wrote:Heres a couple of pics even though there a week and a half old. I've already laminated over most of the stitch mat and stringers.

Re: Viking recore
I just followed what was there. I don't remember the dimentions. Remember I had the plywood thing too but it was the same width as the original core. It cant be to close to the floor register. The floor has to lay flat on the register.I think it was around 20" from the stringers. I just looked at my boat and it's going to be a long cold winter!

Re: Viking recore
Hippie, I am removing the core as we speak. The dimensions across are 11 1/4 port, 8 1/2 middle and 11 1/4 starboard. But you have to remember that my stringers are 3 boards thick. The true dimensions are probable more like 11 1/2, 8, 11 1/2. About 31 across and I'm geussing 12 feet long, depending on where I stop the recore in front. I am still debating Balse or Foam. I know it's more money but keeping in mind that we do a ton of skiing and the floor of the boat gets a lot of wetsuit runoff. I'd like to never have to worry about it again. Is there already a thread on the balsa vs foam issue or should I start one? Here is a picture of my core exposed on the starboard side. The port side has already been removed. Bill

Re: Viking recore
Wow, theres more difference between the 2 than I thought!. If you look at the pic earlier in this thread, my floor is just shy of 4'. I looked for some left over core to measure the squares but my wife hid it on me and don't remeber where. I'll still look for it. I guess the vulture is more than a stretched vking.

Re: Viking recore
My floor is also about 4' but the core stops short of the floor edge. I don't know it that was factory or redone but there is a good 5 inches on each side after the core ends but my floor will tie back in. Rick, are you saying the core came all the way up to the edge of your floor? Looks like your core goes up a little bit more looking back in your thread
