Re: Viking recore
The core ends before the floor register ( recess in the hull where the floor is laminated in ) so the floor don't hit when in place. They just seem wider than 11-12" I wonder if the pad is wider on the vultures too The stringers dont look as high either.

Re: Viking recore
The pad is 8" wide. The core only comes up 11 1/2 inches. If it came up any higher, it would be in the way of the floor. Too shallow there? I am thinking that 4 sheets of 2x4 balsa should be enough. 32 wide max x 12 feet long. How much resin and cloth do I need to get that secure? 1 gallon resin, 1 can hardner or 2 or more of each? How much cloth will i need? Bill

Re: Viking recore
I used about 8 gal. of resin. You'll need more due to the length. Measure the widest part of the boat and the length to get the yards of glass you'll need. You goin with bulsa? For resin, go with vinlester. A little more than poly but great to work with. Save some money there. If it's gona be a wet boat and bulsa, gotta be sure it's sealed. The main reason I went with foam. Re: Viking recore
Thanks Rick. Wow! 8 gallons. More then I was expecting. I still am not sure about balsa or foam. Kind of leaning towards the foam for the same reason as you. Skiing and kids in wetsuits. Even with foam I expect to get a good seal. I am pretty sure I will be vacuum packing it.
