Re: bot?
What bot? The Hydrostream Bot? LoL That is one I made and when and if he makes posts I make him do that. He is half automated. I make him perform his functions. All the other ones you see in the Whos Online list are web crawlers.77viper wrote:Ok another question. How are the Bots registered users with locations?
I will be removing them all from the whos online list soon so you wont see them anymore.A Web crawler is a computer program that browses the World Wide Web in a methodical, automated manner. Other terms for Web crawlers are ants, automatic indexers, bots, and worms or Web spider, Web robot, or—especially in the FOAF community—Web scutter.
This process is called Web crawling or spidering. Many sites, in particular search engines, use spidering as a means of providing up-to-date data. Web crawlers are mainly used to create a copy of all the visited pages for later processing by a search engine that will index the downloaded pages to provide fast searches. Crawlers can also be used for automating maintenance tasks on a Web site, such as checking links or validating HTML code. Also, crawlers can be used to gather specific types of information from Web pages.

Re: bot?
Thanks for your wisdom Hippie!
Just so you know I don't play well with robots. They freak me out a little.... ok a lot. Although If you say they're cool I won't mess with them.
