Lifting a Johnson 200?
I have a lift ring for the Mercury I used to have, but does anyone know what thread to use to lift a Johnny. I don't seem to be having any luck finding a lift ring for this motor? Any suggestions? Bill

A base from a three jaw puller will work, there are three tapped holes in the flywheel.

Getting ready for a transom replacement perhaps.

Re: Lifting a Johnson 200?
I didn't put any sealer in between the transom bolts last year in my rush to get on the water, so I want to pull off the motor and jackplate and put 3M 5200 around all the bolts. I was getting some seepage back there and I want to stop it. I will wait until the fall to think about a new transom. It's strong enough to get another year out of it. At that time, I will hopefully be looking at a paint job next.

Re: Lifting a Johnson 200?
Don't use 5200 for that, it will not come off without damaging the gel and or fiberglass. Use 4200 or something not as strong, we use lifeseal at work on the new boats.

Re: Lifting a Johnson 200?
OK - Thanks for the tip Chet. When I took it off, there was 5200 on it. It was a royal pain to get off. I was getting a small amount of water in the boat last year. I have to figure this is why. Do you agree? It wasn't much, but I would like to not have any seepage. Bill

Re: Lifting a Johnson 200?
Chet, do you recomend taking the motor off to do this, or can I just take each bolt out one at a time and coat it real good and stick it back in, then move to the next one. Or is it better to remove the jackplate and put a layer in between eack piece and coat the bol? Bill
