I just picked up a vector with an awesome mural of a mermaid on the bow. It belonged to a good friend who suddenly passed away. Not a mercury guy but has what looks to be a Bridgeport 2.4 under the hood with a huge prop and a jackplate. This thing looks like it goes 90 mph sitting still. It's been sitting for 6 or 7 years and needs a little tlc, I'm hoping next summer it will be ready for the water.

This is what it looks like now, it's not to bad for sitting outside for the last 6 or 7 years. A few parts, a new interior and a little TLC and this thing will be as bad as ever.

:o :o :o

DANG! Thats fancy as heck. lol Is that a wrap or is that all paint?

Also, if it sat outside and unsure if the core and transom have ever been replaced, I would absolutely put that on your list. Hate to see something like that come apart on you at high rate of fun, aka speed.

It's all paint. The previous owner was a painter and loved this boat more than a little bit. The mural on the bow took quite some time to do and turned out awesome. He put about 6 or 7 coats of clear on it after all the graphics were done. He also reinforced the transom and did a bunch of glass work inside when he first got it. The floor was redone and the stringers and core were redone. The hull is solid as a rock but it did add some weight. We used to call this thing THE ROCKET.

If it's been sitting outside in the elements unprotected for the past 6-7 years, then you'll probably want to recheck the condition of the core.
You say the interior all has to be redone anyways, so once you rip all that out, it wouldn't hurt to get access to the drain well at the bottom of the transom, and cut a small hole in the glass laminate to check the core underneath. Water flows to the lowest point, and that there is the lowest point in the hull.
If it's still good, then you can just patch it back up with a couple layers of glass.

Good luck with the restoration.

The Hydro is coming along nicely. The steering was shot, dual cable setup is now gone. Sea star hydraulic steering will now steer the Vector. Both fuel pumps are working again, old fuel flushed out and replaced with good stuff and the motor fired up and sounds pretty mean. Jack plate pump and trim pump were inop, it pays to know how to fix stuff and they are now working also. Got the headlights and and all other lights working again without to many issues. New front seats are in and rear panel in front of motor is done. A new back seat, new side panels and a new water pump and this thing should be ready to splash!!!
