New mod made a difference

Post: # 6714Post RedDemon »

I added a set of Stage II Boisin reeds and a Holley blue pump to my 2.4 200hp Merc this week and tested it out today.
Wow what a difference on the low and high end. Really smoothed out the idle at low speeds, fires out of the hole in half the time it did, had a better top end. If you haven't done it yet, you wont be sorry if you do. Next mod is to send off the heads and get the compression up to the 140-145 mark. Just thought I would let everyone know whats going on in So. Ga. Later all and keep it on top of the water.

Did you need to richen the idle circuit? I plan to add a set to mine in the spring, but heard they dont survive well under cold lean backfires.

Sounds great so far just wait til you get your heads cut.
If you don't have a regulator with the blue pump you might want to add one. They can put out 9 psi and can overcome the floats and flood the motor. Just trying to give a heads up. Keep us posted after your heads are done. We might get snow next week so we can only ride through you southerners.

I did rich en the fuel mix a little and I'm running the pump regulator at 4.5. Going to replace the rectifier with a voltage regulator in a week or too, also. That constant even voltage is a good thing. This crazy weather here,,,you never know. we will be in the low 30's for the next 3 days and back to the mid to high 70' toward the weekend. One year I drove on the ice on Christmas day and have water skied on a Christmas day. You just have to flip a coin down here " sandals or boots"

LOL,,I hear you. We still got the bikinis out down here so far. It's supposed to be 78 for the rest of the week and I'll be on the lake or river if I find time. Good luck on the powder and watch out for trees.

LOL , some of you guys would have alot of respect for this one ! Living on the east coast every christmas and new years day i take a blast across the river even if we have a few mild snow flakes blowing !!!
I grew up on down hill skies and snowmobiling and people from around here think i am crazy to be out there , ha , when it's warmer inside the boat than what it was on a pair of down hill skies !

I'll keep you all posted thru the winter and motivated with new pics and river test ! :D
