Post: # 9226Post almightygimp1 »

Hey! names jason, im from dothan alabama, live about 3 miles from the florida line, 8 miles from the georgia line and the chatahoochie river. Im a new stream owner, had it for two weeks, super excited cause ive been wanting one all my life. Have always been a river rat, Have always owned boats and loved water sports, and fast boats have always appealed to me, just never been able to own one of the bad boy's, so ive decided im going to build one. I know absolutely nothing about glass work, but im a very capable craftsman, and everything i do i try to do the best possible. Im a pipefitter/welder by trade, and take pride in everything i do. So the biggest part of this will be educating myself on which resins, mats and such to use for this project, and im in no rush cause, well its summertime and im gonna be on the river. My current boat is an 88 glasstream 15v with a sweet 115 tower on the back, she is a great boat, good for pulling, fishing, and she does have a little pep in her step. My hydro is an 84 viper, its a pile of junk right now, but im gonna bring her back to life, shes getting the full restore, but its gonna take a good bit of time, im thinking this boat wont be on the water for a couple years, too many irons in the fire, but she will get there. gonna add some pics of my current ride, and the viper.

welcom to the site. you may want to check out my thread 75 viper restoration. im going through what you will have to do. the worst part is the prep work, but it is important to have everything preped right for good adhision. there are many hydro-fans here that are good people and like to help thoes of us just getting started with out projects. as for your time table, acouple of years? im thinking more like 6 months for mine, and it was a P.O.S. when i got it. good luck with it and stay on it and im sure it will not take as long as you think. mike

Welcome! Any question or anything just ask. I am liking the Viper.

I have been at mine for 2 years but I have also had a few things in life happen along the way. The biggest one being a child that is now just over 21 months old and he has taken up a huge part of my free time to work on the boat and then a few bad business deals here and there but things are somewhat back on track and hope to have my turd on the waterr for my sons 2nd bday on Aug 11th. Hopefully sooner then that but thats the goal.

Way to go Jason, you got the right attitude. It took me close to two years to get my Viking close to right, and I'm still not quite there yet. I think the trick is to sign a blank check, and just throw it in there.
