Well, Chet was over at my place today and while working on the UMPBA web site I found a picture of my junkie seats that I am going to have redone I think. Otherwise I will be hitting up AFR for some of his.

The bottom and the back and such is ABS Plastic but the seat cushion and back cushion have a wood base and are totally soaked. Wonder if I could do an ABS plastic or something so the seats are essentially all composite and no wood in them.

hip, talked to a friend of mine with a lil experience in this and he said when you get the seat stripped down to the plastic, mask out the areas that u want to have cusions in( the seat bottom and back) then lay some glass to where you build up a template for the cusions. when it drys u can pop it out and use that peice to foam and cover for your seat inserts. then theres no wood. or i bet you could use the wood as a template to make new ones out of glass. just a thought and proly not the correct way to do it.

afw's are sweet

I think plastic would be the way to go since you can't staple fiberglass.

Yeah, I am going to weigh the cost of just getting my seats recovered ver buying some new ones. I do have some in mind (Link I posted a few posts up) if I go the new route.

As for the seat bottoms, I think I will go with plastic as then it wont rot out and like chet said, cant really staple into fiberglass.

I dont. It was so rotten and water logged I just about couldnt even get it to burn. Someone had made the rear seat and didnt use anything to protect the wood. Boy was it a wet nasty moldy mess. LoL

Here is what it looked like though before I trashed it.

It doesnt look like its really that bad in the picture. To bad they didnt actually seal up the wood cause they had a great design that went over the front part of the fuel tank I have nicely. :)

Here is my fuel tank...

It was wood? Mine is abs like the fronts. I have to pull the rear out this spring to put my new jack on so I'll see if theres any kind of markings on the base to try and i/d who made them. :boating:
