if the boat itself is in goodshape id say its work 2k. depends what 150 is on it as to what you can value it at.

im far from a boat mechanic. i piddled with my previous 87 2.4 and now with my 79-83? 2.4 200 and that about all i am familiar with. im sure someone else can chime in on the 2.0. but i would imagine it is very similar in most ways to a 2.4

It seems that the value of just the boat is all you have to work with.

The motor could have more problems than just minor powerhead issues. I would price some used, complete, running motors because there's a possibility that that is what it'll cost to get you on the water.

that is my fear, especially since there is no way to tell what kind of condition the motor is actually in. He wont let me get my hands dirty before the purchase. I have been looking into just replacing the whole motor should run about 1k-1500 (most xr2's on CL) but there again i could just be buying a project there. I figured when i tear the motor down i will be able to tell whats up with it, if i need to bore it it might still be cheaper than buying a used motor and at least i know what is done to the motor. I have found some rebuild kits for around 900-1000 bucks. does that sound right? my biggest concern is to not get so far behind that i could never get what its worth, starting at 2 putting at the most 2 in it and just have some fun until i have to sell it, this boat should be worth around 4k? with everything gone through. judging by what most people are selling these for. asking anywhere bewtween 3500 5500. and cleaned up it will be a nice looking boat.

Well, if your just getting it to play with and sell probably not going to make much. But if your getting it to build as your own with no intention of selling id say go for it. Just my $.02 i have around $5600 in mine. Would i get that if i sold it? Maybe, maybe not. But to me having a stream isnt about making a profit or losing a little if i sell it. Its about keeping up a tradition that needs to be kept in the water.
