80 MPH club!

spent monday at the shop tuning the motor. rejetted the carbs, set the timing (finally got it right).......went over the wiring real good ( stator checked out fine) ....modified the air flow a bit

went for a ride today and.............. broke 80 mph!! more importantly i felt like i had her flying really well. boat lauches great and pulls hard all the way to the top!

opened up a hole in the cowl behind front cover. cut airbox down to let direct air in.

quoted from the guy helping me................ "See that?..... Best airbox mercury ever designed. Now take that cutting wheel and chop it in half!"

What prop you running and what kind of rpm, glad you made to the eighties now for the nineties

Running 27 srx. Not sure what rpm was at top end but by my calculation s I think around 7000 remember I'm running 2:1 gears. Gonna try some different props andddd heights but have zero complaints about setup now. Really dint want to turn any more rpms than that

Keep an eye on your plugs, more air without fuel can be a very bad thing!!!!
