Made the jump to hydraulic steering

Post: # 18598Post QuarterHorse »

Some of you may have read on SnF I broke my cables last weekend boating. After trying to find the "right cable set up" and ditching my Teleflex single rack/dual cable set up, I got fed up and ordered my UFlex Silversteer set up. I'll keep pics coming as I'm going to try and get downstairs tonight and get this installed.

Okay so I got down for a little bit tonight and tore all the old out...........

......then I got the cylinder on. :)

I gotta get the hole bigger in the dash, mount the helm, run hoses, and bleed it. Shouldn't be too bad. Not sure if I have time tomorrow or not, then Saturday morning it's helping Nosboss get gel sprayed on the bottom of his Ventura. If it rains Saturday afternoon, I may be in the garage finishing mine up for a possible Sunday Funday run.

If you don't mind me asking, what did the new stuff cost? I'd like to make the switch. I am not thrilled with my Teleflex Dual setup. Bill

Looking good Dustin. Im with Bill, how much did this set you back? Im sure once I get my bird on the water, hydraulic steering will be my next upgrade.

Well, I started looking at a Pretech America dual cable rack ($250.00). Everybody said go Ride Guide ($500.00 if you can find them and they no longer make parts either).
Not wanting to keep trying to put junk parts together I thought I'd go hydraulic and started with SeaStar ($700.00 for base model) which I found out is a no go for go fast stuff. I read about UFlex and found a set up which is their Protech stuff for $825.00.
Found this Silversteer stuff which was suggested to me from the rep for a "go fast" set up for $975.00 to my door.
Definately NOT cheap, but, when the Vamp is done, this will be going into it as well.
Looks like a late work evening and prior obligations will prevent me from getting further tonight. However rain Saturday evening will more than likely keep me in the garage to hopefully finish it up.

So I had to ask myself today if it was worth the cash.........well..............TOTALLY WORTH IT! No arm pump, turns with one finger, this is awesome!

Decided to jump on it beside Nosboss today for a couple quick shots
