Being there is no motor and the boat needs a complete restoration, I wouldnt give him anywhere near that. You could find one completely redone for that price less motor.

I wish somebody could measure the length of the relief in the sponson cut. The plug I have looks to be much longer up the sponson with an additional cut.

That is not a solid boat. Guy states right in the ad that the floor has some soft spots. The interior needs to be completely replaced if you ask me, along with the floor and im sure the foam and core under the floor is soaking wet and im sure the transom isnt all that dry either and will need to be replaced by the looks of the rest of the boat. Honestly, to me, $1500, $2k at best and that would be being generous. It needs everything done to it. Your looking at a full restoration there. The hull itself looks to be nice shape, the rest of it, not so much. Defiantly worth fixing but not at $5500. Just my .02 cents.

Thanks just what I had been thinking for a offeri listed the issues and ball park numbers for what it needs and made a offer of $1,200. Haven't heard back. He did drop to $4,500 in his add. I put my venus up for sale last summer for 4,500 and got like 3 replies. If he can get 4,000 or even $3,500 I'm doing something wrong.

I understand ,
I think the good times good memorys and the love of ones boat brings us to think its worth more.
We always forget boats loose value If not cared for they become more to fix then the value it s self.
I would maybe tell him the love and joy it would bring to you a collector you would restore it to its glory.
Offer a little more sometimes guys get hurt feelings im sure he paid way more then 4k
If stepping up the offer and leveling with the man might get the deal done. Explain the rebuilt or 3% excellent boats get top $$$
Ive got a Viking we bought new i would never be able to recover the thosands put in it over the years
Ask him if he wants to negoiate a sale price.
I will offer him $500 make your offer look great.
Tell him he can keep the steering wheel?
When i sell beloved toys i take a picture or keep a emblem
That way you can go back there in your mind.
The hardest part is letting go.

Once i need a 15 ton equipment trailer i needed it wanted it i paid the mans asking price. Probly over paid.
Its old, worn but it works. It was worth it.
At the end of the Day my Grandpa used to say if you want things in this life you have to pay for it.
Taking a loss Its all in how you think about it.
Goodtimes, enjoyment. Maybe less is more.
I hope you can get this boat.
Call him meet with him.
Best of all show him the money.
