All kinds of **** from collapsed fuel lines to carb full of funk. Just because a motor revs in neutral don't mean squat. Start with the carbs and work back to the tank.

You will probably need to take it to the lake to test.

Pick up one of those round vacuum-pressure testers from a auto parts store and a T fitting that will fit your fuel line. Install it in right in front of your fuel pump if it reads more than 4" of vacuum you have a restriction problem. If that's good put it on the pressure side of the pump, it should be more than 3psi. Again this test is better on the water with a load, the first merc fuel line problem I had was fine out of the water but would collapse under a load.

I would look into a ignition problem, check for spark on all 6.

I had a bad high speed coil on my merc last summer, but at work last week I had a omc with a bad powerpack that cut ignition to 1 cyl. it didn't sound that bad uot of the water but would fall on it's face in the test tank.
