There's a little stretch of beach on the western tip of seaway just before what we call the firecracker. If there's a lot of freighter traffic you can't beach the boats. They'll get blown up the beach. Most of the island was man made to dig the cut off for the freighters. They used to collide in the bend in the south channel years ago and and cause a lot of property damage. I remember the faster freeighters used to pass the slower ones going downstream through the old south channel. Wouldn't see that these days. Have you seen the cameras the boarder patrol put up on gull? Pretty wild. Yea, they really hassled us there! It was all good though when we showed them the marker.

Hehe..ok we are on the same page!

If some “enforcement” people wants to play boarder games.. we can stand on each side of the line and still chat!

I hear you on the freighter wakes.. some friends like to go play in the sand in that area.
last summer.. I was dual anchored just North of that section along the same beach front. Had 4 adults and 6 kids on the cruiser.
In the bigger boat I stay out a bit and usually have no troubles.
We watched a storm cloud heading across the bay from the Windsor Detroit way.. It looked neat but rather safe as one could see right through it to the other side.

When that bit$h hit.. the winds where way more than expected.

The rear anchor let go.. np I thought.. front anchor still there..I had the motors started and monitoring.. then all he$$ broke loss when 2 freighters..passed at the same time.

We just got all the anchor rodes pulled and out to deeper water before the boat would have been on the rocks.

While all where functionally safe ( we would have been in 2 ft of water) pride would have made me red faced! I ‘ve watched more than one boat go flying in the freighter wakes. It’s like high to low tide in 30 seconds!

One this cold front clears.. we should be good to go..within a few weeks max.
It would be a lot of fun to meet up with some USA neighbours.

Syn and goose bay?

I just heard from a local that lives on the syn that the water is down right now.
Last summer the water was much better than the year(s) prior

(that is why I have smalle boat( the stream) to run.

We shall see what this years brings.

The syn has lots of water, the bassett and the Johnston also.

That's the first Vicious 17 cat. I bombed all over the lake in that thing, it was great with that 300 on it.
