Finally getting around to do the core, transome and floor in my dads Varmint. The question I have is why do you need to put core in the wing area, the Vking,Valero, vultures and other one don't have it there, couldn't I lay a couple extra layers of glass in that area and it be ok

And a couple years later....
my 1980 Viper had core in the wings; naturally it was rotten to the point that you couldn't distinguish it from soil.
I'll be replacing the balsa core with new balsa core, in all areas as it was built originally.
The "wings" generally don't have the stresses of weight or hydrostatic pressure, so I think you could probably get away with just adding layers of glass.
Core is definitely needed on the running surfaces however.

Yes, the varmint, vector, and viper all use the same core structure and must be replaced as such. The hull of the vking and vulture are a little different so core is not required further up like on the viper, vector, and varmint.
